A lifetime resident of the Manassas area, coach Harris is a former first round pick of the New York Yankees. Mark is currently the hitting and infield coach for the Potomac Nationals, after serving as the Infield Coordinator for the Kansas City Royals for five seasons.

Professional Baseball Player, Baltimore Orioles

Kenny, of the Baltimore Orioles, and member of the Carolina League Champion Frederick Keys, is joining our staff for the Winter. He will be helping out with our instructional programs and will be available for private lessons this Fall and Winter.

Kenny was born in Norfolk, VA. He moved up to the Northern Virginia area where he played baseball at Lee High School in Springfield, VA. Kenny was an all star shortstop and pitcher for the Lee Lancers. He then went off to school and played baseball at Christopher Newport University as a right handed pitcher. During his career at CNU, Moreland compiled a 35-9 record with 378 strikeouts in 359.1 innings and had a career 2.25 ERA. During his senior year, he earned 1st team All-America honors and was named the Division III National Pitcher of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Kenny was signed by the Orioles as a free agent after the June 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He was named the South Atlantic League (SAL) pitcher of the week in June 2010. He finished the 2011 season with the Frederick Keys.

DAVID GARDZIEL

Instructor, Snyder Baseball & Softball Academy

Spent 18 years coaching high school baseball in Northern Virginia. He was a Varsity Head Coach for 10 years. Gardziel served as the Head Varsity Coach at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria from 2008 - 2011. Previously served as the Head Varsity Coach from 2002-07 at Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, where he led the Lancers to three Northern Region tournament appearances and a 2004 Group AAA state semifinal appearance. During his tenure at Robert E. Lee, he was the Head Coach of fellow Snyder Baseball staff member and professional baseball player Kenny Moreland. Began his coaching career by spending one year as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Potomac High School in Dumfries in 1994. From 1995 through 2000, served as an Assistant Varsity Coach at West Springfield High School, where he helped the Spartans to their 1998 Group AAA state championship. In 2001, served as the Head Junior Varsity Coach and as a Varsity Assistant at Centreville, helping the Wildcats to the Northern Region championship game and an appearance in the Group AAA state tournament. A 1989 graduate of Potomac Senior High School, Dumfries, VA where he was the starting catcher on their 1988 Group AAA state championship team and in 1989 was named MVP of the team and was a to the VHSL all-state selection. Played for two seasons at Virginia Tech in 1990 and 1991, and graduated from the school with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1993. Is in his 18th year as a PE teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools, his fifth year at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, where he also serves as an Assistant to the Director of Student Activities. Lives in Bristow with his wife, Shauna, and their three children, Brett (9) and twins Cole and Kylie (5).

JESSE BEAL

Professional Baseball Player, Baltimore Orioles

Jesse is currently in the Orioles organization. He was selected by the Orioles in the 14th round (416th overall) of the 2008 Draft out of South County High School (Lorton, Va.). Jesse tied for the Appalachian League lead with 13 starts in 2009 and finished second in innings pitched (74) and tied for sixth in wins (5). He went 3-0 with a 2.27 ERA with 23 strikeouts and six walks in six starts for Class A Delmarva in May 2010, and issued more than two walks only once all season.

RYAN WOOD

Professional Baseball Player, Kansas City Royals

Ryan recently played four years in the Kansas City Royals organization as a pitcher and middle infielder.  He was selected by the Royals in the 11th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina University.  As a freshman, Ryan hit .289 with 3 HR and 23 RBI.  He earned C-USA all-freshman honors.  As a sophomore, he hit .318 with 5 HR and 23 RBIs.  As a junior, Ryan hit .306 with 13 HR and 51 RBI.  In his senior year, he hit .379 with 14 HR and 57 RBI.  He was named 1st team C-USA, 1st team all-American (ping baseball), 2nd team AA (NCBWR), 3rd team AA (Louisville slugger/collegiate baseball), 3rd team AA (Baseball America), 3rd team AA (ABCA/Rawlings baseball).  Ryan finished his career at ECU as the all time leader in runs scored (225) and walks (151).  He was also among the all-time top 10 in games played (237), games started (226), at-bats (869), hits (285), RBIs (154), doubles (48), home runs (35), total bases (442) and assists (655).  He graduated from C.D. Hylton High in Woodbridge, Va., in 2005.  Ryan batted .460 as a senior, earning Virginia All-State recognition.  He is nicknamed "Woodshow."

MICHAEL SNYDER

Instructor, Snyder Baseball & Softball Academy

Professional Baseball Player, Los Angeles Angels

Michael is currently in the Los Angeles Angels organization.  He was selected in the 23rd round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida Southern College (FSC Moccasins) and started his career with the Orem Owlz.  Michael finished his senior year batting .325 with 13 doubles, 12 HR and 47 RBI.  He led the Moccasins in both homers and RBI two years in a row.  He earned several honors in his college career including:  First Team third baseman (All-Sunshine State Conference Team), Daktronics All-South Region baseball team, postseason All-South Region team, and ABCA First Team All-Region. With the Orem Owlz, Michael was primarily at third base and designated hitter.  He earned Topps Pioneer League Player of the Month for July 2012.  This was due to his stellar performance of driving in 34 runs, nine more than any other Pioneer League Player.  At the end of the season, Michael was named to the Pioneer League All-Star Team.  He ended with a batting average of .332 in his first pro season and led the league in doubles with 25. Michael led the league with 16 extra-base hits and 66 total bases in July. Snyder finished in the top five in games, RBIs, doubles, total bases, hits and extra-base hits.  He was recently mentioned in Baseball America for the Angels prospects.  He was recognized as "Best Power Hitter".  They mentioned his strength, bat speed and that he shows 70 raw power on the 20-80 scouting scale.  He was also mentioned as having one of the "Most Intriguing Backgrounds" with his twin brother, Matthew, in the Yankees organization, brother, Brandon, with the Texas Rangers and father, Brian, having played in the majors.  Michael was selected to participate in the Arizona Instructional league this Fall and has just returned to Virginia.

MATTHEW SNYDER

Instructor, Snyder Baseball & Softball Academy

Professional Baseball Player, New York Yankees

Matthew is currently in the New York Yankees orgranization.  He was selected in the 10th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Mississippi.  Matthew ended his career with Ole Miss as a member of the 2012 All-SEC second team first baseman.  He was a top producer as he posted 12 home runs and a league leading 67 RBI.  He ended the season batting .333.  He was named to the SEC Community Service team for his efforts in the local community.  Matthew started his pro career with the Staten Island Yankees.  Matthew was seen primarily at first base.  Just like his twin brother, Michael, Matthew earned Topps NY Penn League Player of the Month for July 2012.  He led the New York-Penn League for July in batting (.414) and OPS (1.094). He also ranked second in RBIs (23) and slugging (.609) and third in hits (36) and on-base percentage (.485). Snyder had hits in 20 of 24 games, including 10 in row from July 8-20.  Matt was named to the 2012 New York Penn All-Star Team.  He finished the season hitting .299, 34 RBIs, 13 doubles.  Matthew was recently mentioned in Baseball America for the Yankees prospects.  He was noted as having one of the "Most Intriguing Backgrounds."  Matthew's father, Brian, played in the majors.  His brother, Brandon, plays with the Texas Rangers and twin brother, Michael, was drafted by the Angels organization.
